History and Creation of Our School

In 1991, a three-year project of MBA study was approved and started under the TEMPUS-PHARE program. The project was financed by the European Union. The project implementation was entrusted to the University of Economics and three international partners: Manchester Metropolitan University and Lancaster University from Great Britain and EADA Barcelona from Spain.

Under the project, the Prague International Business School was founded in the year 1992. The founding bodies of the new non-profit education organization were University of Economics and the Management Studies Foundation.

The quality of study is based on broad experience of international partners. It was substantially increased thanks to PIBS Academic Council presided by Profesor Tom Lupton, ex-Dean of Manchester Business School. The council members were reputed professor of well-known international schools. In 1994, the study program of PIBS was accredited by the Manchester Metropolitan University. Regularly, the quality is evaluated by international evaluators professors of management science. The requirements for the study are updated by the PIBS Expert Council whose members are top managers of leading Czech companies.

As the first Czech school, PIBS became an associated member of European Foundation of Management Development (EFMD) in 1994. The main goal of the foundation is to increse the quality of management study in Europe. First graduates acquired their MBA degrees in 1995. Further graduations followed in the years 1996 and 1998.

 

PIBS is a founding member of the Czech Association of MBA Schools (CAMBAS) and is a member of the Czech Management Association.

 

Currently, PIBS organizes international MBA courses in cooperation with partner schools in Germany, Great Britain and France.
